The excitement of buying new home décor can quickly disappear with the time and effort it takes to hang the items on the wall.  Hopefully these tricks will make your life a little easier!

 

When working on a gallery wall use poster board or parchment paper to help you along.  Follow these few simple steps. 

1.Cut the paper to the length and height you want the frames to cover on the wall. 

2. Place frames where you would like them displayed. 

3. Trace around the frames and mark where the nails should be placed.

4. Tape paper to wall.

5. Hammer nails where marked.

6. Remove paper, leaving nails in wall.

7. Hang frames!

 

Another time saving technique only requires a little bit of tape. Use the tape to tape on the wall. Simple and easy!

You can also turn your item backwards to avoid measuring. This will give you a clear view of where the nails or screws need to be paced. This technique can also be used on larger decorations. 

Hopefully these simple ideas will help you get those new items on your wall right away!

We Know Why the Caged Bird Sings…

Because his birdcage is from Rod Works!  Birdcages are all the rage right now and at Rod Works we have so many fun ones to choose from! Birdcages are especially perfect for the Spring and Summer and they’re a great way to add a unique look to any display.

And birdcages are not just for the birds; there are endless possibilities to what you can put inside them!  Here are a few ideas:

For a creative look you can place a pretty vase with flowers inside!

Grass, berry, yarn, and/or twine balls are also a great way to fill an empty birdcage.

If you want to add a pop of color, put a candlestick with a colored candle inside!

And if you want to want to keep it classic, you can always put a bird inside. I would suggest a fake bird though–low maintenance ;)

Clear Glass Containers might sound boring, but oh the things you can do with them.  The great thing about clear glass is you can you use them all year round or for any holiday and never have the same look by just changing the contents inside.

They’re a great filler for height and color in any display.

Some ideas for things to fill your containers: candy, cereal, wicker/grass/rope balls, faux fruit/vegetables, potpourri, sea shells, soap, etc.  They can be used in any room in the house and help complete any vignette.

When you have a large jar in a grouping it can be costly to fill, so try filling it with some fabric or tulle.  Our colored sashes look great!

Adding a bow of burlap or color on the lid can be another way to add color and texture to your display.

Alrighty…if you’re as intimidated with flowers as I am…this post if for you!
Now that the sun is starting to poke out, I don’t know about you but I want to add some color to the house. However, with a semi-newlywed budget, it’s not really possible to completely redecorate the house. This is where some beautiful, bright flowers come in.

First, you want to start with a versatile piece. I chose this vase because the white can be brightened for the spring and summer and will still look beautiful with your fall and winter colors.

If you are easily overwhelmed by all the different flowers and colors, some nice greenery is a good way to start.

You can even add some ribbon to go with your room color or a holiday.

You ready…take a deep breath. It’s time to bump it up a bit. An easy way to start is to pick some small flowers that you can gradually add to your greenery.

Want to make things even easier with the flowers? Just buy a bunch and stick it in the pot!

Just fluff it up and BOOM! Isn’t it pretty?
Ok, once you’re mastered that…it’s time to pull the big guns out! Here, I took some greenery with little beads and some beautiful spring flowers! It was a little tricky at first but just play with it. You can bend or cut the stems to get the desired height on the flowers.

Now you’re ready to add some pops of color for spring without breaking the bank!
